THE TWOKS and SPYNDRIFT – a PACked Stage Gig

ONE CONCERT & TWO BANDS

The Twoks are a Melbourne-based art-pop duo featuring Xani Kolac on electric violin and vocals and Mark Leahy on drums.

The duo seamlessly incorporate live looping technology and various effects pedals into original pop music obscuring genre stereotyping and stylistic definition. Their music has been described as cinematic, sunny, edgy and tribal and really does take risks and stretch the boundaries of contemporary musical work.
“Lively and original, The Twoks’ music has been welcomed in places where people are looking for something a little different…Esoteric instrumental tracks sit beside rollicking, arch pop rumbles and warped ballads in a kind of mystical, dramatic stew.” (Simone Ubaldi, Beat Magazine)

Invited back wherever they play and with a rapidly growing following, Spyndrift take the audience on a musical journey filled with colour and passion. This vaudeville cabaret show is complete with 1920’s silks and twirling parasols. Spyndrift is more than just a band, it’s a visual feast.
From the start a dynamic musical performance unfolds, complete with vintage costumery, props and a shadow box, which all work to frame Elle’s background in dance. Spyndrift’s original music traverses many genres and this may be at the root of their broad appeal. You’ll love these talented musicians with their penchant for perfectionism.
There are very few acts on the live circuit that can match Spyndrift in terms of their unique,
highly visual performance style, musicianship, energy and out-and-out groove”
Mick Griffin, Ballarat Weekly

“Follow the Yellow Brick Road”  GoldFields TOUR

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD !

Fabulously naughty, exotic and noisy Spyndrift is more than just a band it’s a visual feast being served hot to the Goldfields this April and May. Formed in the stunning Otway Ranges in 2004 this award winning five piece band concocts a dynamic blend of ska-cabaret, circus-reggae, roots and psychedelia. Since the recording of their second EP, ‘Positive Charge’, in 2011, Spyndrift have played a string of gigs, including sell-out performances at Melbourne’s Butterfly Club, packed houses at The Anglesea Music Festival, The Queen Victoria Geelong Night Market and last year’s Apollo Bay Music Festival.

Front woman, Elle Wood says, ‘if the shorter, colder days are dragging you down, dance the night away with Spyndrift’s infectious dance grooves, Spyndrift is like a ripe peach, once bitten, we evoke rapture and delight.’ ‘This tour is all about the people and bringing a smile to their faces, listening to music is one thing but the visual performance is essential to the story.’ Spyndrift were the winners of the 2010 Vic Hunt Memorial Music Award at the Blues Club Geelong, the award went towards recording their second EP ‘Positive Charge’ released October 2011. Spyndrift kick of their ‘follow the yellow brick road’ tour with a show close to home in Ocean Grove on Friday April the 20th.

April 28th – Bendigo The New Market Hotel w support Joel English
